For equipment manufacturers and suppliers

Adapting foreign technical solutions to Russian codes

既懂中国标准,也懂俄罗斯规范的工程合作伙伴

Your equipment is designed to GB, ASME or API. The Russian client, the expert reviewers and Rostekhnadzor work to GOST, SP and FNP. We are a design institute that stands between you and the Russian project and translates not only words but requirements.

Barriers

What stands in the way of entering the Russian market

Good equipment fails to get into a Russian project not because it is worse, but because it is described in a different engineering language.

  • 01

    A different system of codes

GB/T, ASME, API — while the design and the expert review check against GOST, SP and FNP. Direct equivalents often do not exist: the purpose of the requirements is the same, but calculation methods, safety factors and material requirements differ.

  • 02

    Hazardous production facility

A compressor station or a gas treatment unit is a hazardous production facility under 116-FZ. Technical devices and documentation are subject to federal norms and rules, industrial safety expert review and Rostekhnadzor supervision.

  • 03

    EAEU technical regulation conformity

Machinery, explosion-proof equipment, pressure vessels and electrical equipment fall under EAEU technical regulations. Certificates and declarations are issued by accredited bodies, but without technical documentation in Russian the process will not move.

  • 04

    Expert review of design documentation

State or non-state expert review (Town Planning Code Art. 49) and industrial safety expert review. The expert needs calculations and solutions in Russian logic, with references to current documents.

  • 05

    When there are no codes

Since 1 September 2024 special technical conditions (STU) are no longer used for capital construction projects: compliance is substantiated by research, calculations, tests or modelling (384-FZ Art. 15). For a hazardous production facility deviating from the FNP — a safety justification (116-FZ Art. 3 cl. 4).

  • 06

    Climate and seismicity

Frost, permafrost, snow and wind loads: UHL and HL climatic versions per GOST 15150-69, load recalculation per SP 20.13330, seismic per SP 14.13330.

  • 07

    Documentation language and format

Documentation in Russian, per SPDS and ESKD, with Russian symbols, units and section structure per Government Decree No. 87. A word-for-word translation does not pass expert review.

  • 08

    Integration into the facility

Equipment is only part of the facility: site plan, process and utility networks, power supply, process control, fire safety and interfaces with the client’s systems.

Process

How we work with a supplier

One contract and one team — from the first meeting to commissioning. At every stage you understand what is happening and why.

  1. 01

    Gap analysis

We review your documentation in Chinese or English and compare it with Russian requirements. The result is a non-conformity map: what fits as is, what to recalculate, what to modify and where tests are needed.

  2. 02

    Adapting solutions

Strength and load recalculation, climatic version, low-temperature materials, explosion protection, adapting instrumentation and process control to the Russian client’s requirements.

  3. 03

    Documentation

Design and detailed documentation under Russian rules; translation and adaptation of design and operating documentation by our translators; bilingual lists and explanations for your team.

  4. 04

    Expert review and approvals

We support the expert review of design documentation and the industrial safety expert review, answer the experts’ comments and, if necessary, develop an HPF safety justification.

  5. 05

    Support through commissioning

Designer’s supervision on site, participation in commissioning, answers to questions from the client and supervisory authorities until the facility is put into operation.

Codes

We speak the language of your standards

We explain Russian requirements in the logic of the documents you already work with. A few typical pairs where gap analysis starts:

The pairs are a guide for analysis, not an equivalence: compliance is confirmed by calculation and documents under Russian rules.

Result

What you get

  • Gap analysis report in Russian and Chinese: a non-conformity map and an action plan
  • Recalculations and justifications: strength, loads, climatic version
  • Design and detailed documentation under Russian rules
  • Translation and adaptation of design and operating documentation
  • Expert review package and answers to experts’ comments
  • Technical documentation needed for EAEU technical regulation conformity assessment
  • Designer’s supervision and support through commissioning

Experience

Experience: a Chinese-made booster compressor station in a Russian project

The booster compressor station equipment was supplied by a manufacturer from China. We translated the design documentation, adapted the solutions to Russian codes and integrated the station into an operating facility — together with a condensate transfer pump station and an autonomous power complex. The expert reviews were passed successfully.

Why us

Why it is easier with us

  • A partner, not a gatekeeper

We are on your side: we look for a way to meet the requirements, not a reason to say no.

  • In-house technical Chinese translators

We explain Russian codes in Chinese — in the logic of your standards and calculations.

  • Our own design and surveys

A design institute with its own survey department, not an intermediary between contractors.

  • Experience with hazardous facilities

Re-equipment of operating facilities, compressor stations, gas treatment units — with expert reviews passed.

  • Your know-how is protected

NDA before any documentation is handed over. Access is limited to the project team. Confidentiality is our principle: we do not even publish our clients’ names.

  • Single window

From gap analysis to commissioning — one contract, one responsibility.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions from suppliers

Will the equipment have to be redesigned?

Not necessarily. Often a recalculation and documentary justification are enough. Sometimes low-temperature materials, explosion-proof components or instruments need to be replaced — this is exactly what gap analysis shows.

Do you issue EAEU (TR CU) certificates?

No. Certificates and declarations of conformity are issued by accredited certification bodies and applicants. We prepare the technical documentation and justifications needed for this.

In what language will the documentation be?

For the Russian client and the expert review — in Russian, following Russian formatting rules. For your team — explanations, lists and correspondence in Chinese.

How is our documentation protected?

We sign an NDA before materials are handed over. Drawings and calculations are used only for the project and disclosed to the client and the expert review only to the extent necessary.

Can you join if the project is already under way?

Yes: at the design stage, before the expert review or after the experts’ comments — we start by analysing what has already been done.

Do you only work with Chinese suppliers?

No. The same logic works for equipment to ASME, API and EN; for China we have our own translators.
